NB Day of Portgal 2020 Canceled!!

President, New Bedford Day of Portugal  2020

After several days of reflection, given the constant worsening of the situation that we all live due to the scare of COVID-19, I regret to inform you that the celebrations of Portugal Day in New Bedford, scheduled for the 5th, 6th and 7th of June, 2020, are canceled.

For the first time since the great festival began in the whaling city, we are obliged not to hold these celebrations. The moment we live in has led to many unprecedented decisions in all quarters and like other decisions this is based on the safety and well being of the population. For now the restrictions in our region are in force until the end of April, but, as we have witnessed several times, due to the unpredictability of the impact of this virus, we think it is better to anticipate this cancellation.

We want to thank all the support that the Portuguese media of our community continues to give to our event and we extend the gratitude to the whole community. Together we will be able to overcome this difficult moment and together we will return even stronger. We wish everyone a lot of health and next year there will be a party, God willing!

Every year we try our best to bring you the best Street Festival possible, but with that comes much work.

Without your help, we will be unable to accomplish the many wonderful things we are wanting to bring to the community.

We ask that you help us this year, at whatever level possible.
